In limited this thing works wonders. Sure Ornithopter is free to cast and they both will most likely die in the opponents next turn. However, this thing has won me games via mana fixing or just swinging in for that last 1 damage...

The flying is glorious. Gets you the land you need and acts as rather effective chump. Well worth .

Pauper cube designers are always looking for playable common mana-fixers. This is one of them. It's not as big as Borderland Ranger, but it's colorless and carries a Bonesplitter quite well. Solid card in my drafts.

I actually think I prefer this to Borderland Ranger. Most of the time, I've used Borderland Ranger as a chump blocker, and this is a bit better at it, though true, Borderland Ranger can stare down 1/1's without dying. I do like this more. I also consider being an artifact a bit of an upside. Sure, they're more vulnerable in general, but the positives outweigh the negatives, IMO. Particularly when you don't really mind if an opponent uses an artifact kill spell on it, like this. Now, something bigger that you want to hold onto more... Maybe not. But this, definitely a bonus.
