Fallen Empires - where even golden lands suck.
Still, I do wish to point out that there was a time - especially outside the US - where City of Brass was hardly available and very expensive (pre-Chronicles). During that time, this was one of the few available alternatives.

It combos with Brooding Saurian too but that's not very convenient. Still best served with Fellwar Stone.
Another little combo would be with Dryad Sophisticate.
