riding the Dilu horse brings its master ill fortune, which makes me glad that I went through the desert on a horse with no name.

@Mode: Yo dawg, I heard you like horses so we put your horse on a horse so your horse can ride a horse.
Regarding the effect itself, it's pretty powerful. Nowadays horsemanship is hardly ever used, so horsemanship is approximately equal to unblockable.
Another reason why it's good - permanent effect that is not an enchantment, so you can't get rid of it once it has been cast. You can destroy the creature, but that's a different story.

I am not so sure this was actually a misprint. As we have Riding Red Hare at a common. If this was supposed to last til end of turn. Well then your common card would do more than this. That would be a pretty bad rare. A FAQ does say it was originally misprinted, but really if that is true why print better commons? And why errata to make the supposedly misprinted effect be the actual effect?
Regardless of the story on how it came to be I have to say an amazing card. I really do like it both flavor wise, and in play. Makes a great combo for hexproof creatures. Personally I love the pairing of this and Dungrove Elder. Though I have to say I equally like the pairing of this with Storm Crow. Imagine that someone Storm Crow manages to fly with this thing. And not only does it manage to fly while carrying it, but it also manages to out maneuver other flyers and creatures with reach.
