I don't like it that much. ray of command or reins of power are so much better. Or the black or black blue versions that sacrifice the creatures at end of turn. But at sorcery speed it's just meh. Or the split second version that is at instant speed and works on all permanents.

This thing works well with Sarkhan the Mad and Dragon Appeasement in my spawn deck. Which will also soon have Grave Pact.

Because who doesn't like the idea of stealing somebody's critter, smashing their face with it, killing it to draw cards and get a 5/5 flyer for you to keep as a pet, and that event also triggering a bloodbath amongst your opponents?

In an unrelated incident, I hijacked my friend's Kuldotha Forgemaster, sacrificed it and some borderposts, and heralded out my Steel Hellkite :3
He was a very sad panda.

People are complaining about this card being good at drafts,
I'm one of the people using them.
It's such a great ability for red, especially in draft.
Get some fast, small creatures.
Then take control of the ones you can't deal with a well-placed Lightning Bolt.

Unless you have the kind of red deck that can win in 3 turns, this or Traitorous Instinct is almost a necessity, since it's the only way red has to deal with creatures with more than 4 toughness. And considering Leatherback Baloth can come out on turn 2, you may need to do that no matter how fast your deck is.

How does using this card on your opponent's favorite creature, attacking them with it, and then Flinging it back at them sound?

"Here you go! You want your Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre back? Have it!" *insert asploading/splatting/screaming sound here*

On constructed: As this isn't a lasting effect, its only constructed use is in partnership with sac effects. Generally those need to be mana-less activations, so that you only need three mana to bash with the creature and then sac it, and there aren't any worthwhile ones in standard (Viscera Seer, Vampire Aristocrat, Bloodthrone Vampire), barring perhaps Scarland Thrinax, which'll leave standard shortly. We'll have to see what cards Scars block brings us.
On limited: For those who don't like this at common, I completely understand. This is incredibly frustrating when you encounter it in draft, often turning oncoming onslaughts into one-sided affairs. On the other hand, I like this at common (despite the fact that this effect has been uncommon throughout history). It has incredible synergy with a number of other red and black commons, presenting a powerful combo deck that mixes up core set draft. Unless... (see all)
