I like this in EDH in my deck with very few artifacts in it. I like the power boost on wimpy creatures and this equipment won't get destroyed on a whim. It's not rare for someone to have some noncreature removal machine gun set up on the board.

This is a great cheap and durable equipment card. The equip cost of 2 for a permanent +2/+0 effect isn't bad. As mentioned before, the synergy with Phylactery Lich is obvious, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this equipment show up in other standard play decks.
In an all Scars of Mirrodin limited format this card is great. Last I had drafted a blue/red deck, containing 2 Trinket Mages, a Bloodshot Trainee and a Spikeshot Elder, worked brilliantly. Goblin Gaveleer also likes this card. Good early pick, i think.

Not bad, but worse than bonesplitter. There is a huge difference between paying 1 mana or 2 mana to equip in aggressive decks.

only put this and Blighsteel Colossus as artifacts in your deck
Trinket Mage -> Darksteel Axe -> Shape Anew -> Blightsteel Colossus
game over.

I like it for it's indestructibility. Good, cheap damage. As for the Phylactery Lich combo, not so hot. Revoke Existance two for one's Phylactery Lich here, and anything that bounces an artifact, shuffles, or something to that effect, 1.5 for one's.

You know, the moment you play this, it is destined to behead your opponent in the end.
