Well, I still prefer Bonesplitter, since I like being able to both play and equip it on my one-drop on turn two. But there's really nothing to complain about with this successor either. While slightly more cumbersome, the fact that it takes a licking and keeps on ticking is handy. Puts me a bit in mind of Rancor. Only, ya know, less insane...

Bonesplitter was never a high-profile artifact that needed to be destroyed. Paying 2 mana for +2/+0 is not worth indestructibility. I'd run Trusty Machete before Darksteel Axe any day...but even that isn't as good as the almighty Bonesplitter for aggro-equip decks.
That said, this card is still great in limited.

Its no bonesplitter, but with acidic slime running around, the indestructible comes in handy.
Unlike bonesplitter, this is not in tempo with drop creatures, but is with drops.

Far prefer Bonesplitter... This might be playable if it were 2 to play and 1 to equip.

Viable alternative to darksteel relic, if you happen to have a deck that makes use of darksteel relic (I'm looking at you, phylactory lich).
