The patch of cracked ground around the orb is pure genius. Kudos to the art direction.

If this card cost any more, everyone would hate it...
But its just right, and I think thats why everybody loves it.
Simple, not weird or stupid,
just land-sacrificing-life-gaining action

While not broken it is extremely breakable.
I don't like it
still 4.5/5 for being good

The art reminds me too much of a Trinisphere, still, it's nice to have foils of this for Legacy. :P

The highest rated card on gatherer, as of 3/30/2011.
Wrexial is up there, really close.

barring incredibly bizarre combos, you wouldn't normally want to draw more than one of these- even if you're first got destroyed, using a full playset in a 60-card deck doesn't sound right.
is it better to run 3 copies, or 2?

Its an interesting card. Lifegain is situationall, and in a sandbox im not sure if it would see play if there was no combos or synergy.
