Overcosted garbage...
Why couldn't they have added a token effect to pump this guy up? Or at least give him Metalcraft for god's sakes.

Kuldotha Rebirth is more value than this.

Or maybe if he had something like a toughness boost based off how many lands you had, or abilities based on the lands you had...or something flavorful. At 7 mana vanilla creatures are no longer playable unless they're hideously undercosted.

Expensive vanilla artrifact creature which is also a common. There was no hope for this one.

Yeah, I have a feeling this was originally designed as a 6/6 for 7, but got tweaked by development at the last minute. Why else would it say "Hexplate" and then NOT have any 6's anywhere on it?

Well, technically Vanilla creatures do have one thing over non-vanilla, they can be used to get a decent boost from Muraganda Petroglyphs.
Seems kinda meh though. Worth a 2.

@nemokara: Armor is sometimes named for what it's designed to protect against. Perhaps it's "hexplate" because it can endure 6 damage.

unplayable in constructed, good card for limited.
Its one of those FU situations but wizards cares far more about limited environment and making sure you dont get a constructed winner in every pack.
