I do think this is a bit too cautious, but I only play Constructed now. Loxodon Warhammer was insane in limited and tended to break games in half, and this would probably do similar things in a Human-heavy draft deck.

Because Loxodon Warhammer is too good.

Not as good as the Butcher's Pupil.

Another lesser Loxodon Warhammer. Why do they crank out so many of these?
Yeah, I don't play limited. I only play constructed from invasion block forward.

I always think it should also say: If equipped to a Zombie, it gets an additional +1/+0

@Paladin85:
I think the Flavor that WOTC was going for was: in the hands of a human, they would use the cleaver for either offense, or, as a butcher's cleaver. A Butcher butchers meats and then people eat said meatstuffs. Usually, eating something gives you energy, or vitality... thus life. If the Butcher's Cleaver were in the hands of a werewolf or zombie, or Cephalid, then they probably aren't carefully carving up things for a dinner banquet-- they are gunning to cave in your face with it, and then move onto the next cleaverable enemy.

Know what happens when too many of these are distributed? Cleaver Riot. Come to think of it, a creature equipped with this would not be bad with double strike...
