Would Haste had broken him? I mean you have two choices for Bloodthirst, combat damage or noncombat damage. Haste would only work under one of those. And provided you don't have a pyromancer or something, it would make him cost even more to get a spell out there to Bloodthirst him.
My version would have made you think a bit before using him. Do you want a 6/6 Haster? Can you squeeze that damage though for pre-combat Bloodthirst? Or would a 12/12 flying blocker suffice until next turn? Judging by the rating on my comment before this edit, Red players don't like the idea of thinking. -_-
I'm not calling him Vanilla, I understand the difference. I'm just saying they missed and opportunity here. Mythic should be game changers when they're put out. Titans are (CiP triggers), Baneslayer was (Flying, First Striking Lifelinking blocker). Planewalkers are. This? Meh. This was eye candy to promote a new (recycled) keyword.

I am disappointed wizards. I know you have to print simple cards in the core set, but a Vanilla mythic? Seriously? even something like an alternate cost or legendary status would have helped.

I really felt that this card could have been better flavor wise. For instance.

Whenever a source deals damage to an opponent put that many +1/+1 tokens on Furyborn Hellkite.

This card is just mediocre. It dies to pretty much all black removal Doom Blade, Go For the Throat, etc. Also bloodthirst wants to win early through aggression not drop huge fatties. He has not enough power. He can be chumped to no end, Trample, haste or 1st strike would greatly improve him. Also Inferno titan is just better for 1 mana less.

Fantastic artwork. And yeah. This card is super scary. Even if he gets Dommbladed or something, your opponent is going to HAVE to get rid of this guy if he's bloodthirsted (you shouldn't be casting him if you can't), and he's going to HAVE to use spot removal (minus cards won't do much good lol). probably freeing you up early to cast something else scary. I love cards like this that attract so much attention in a duel. Your opponent might have other ways to deal with this guy, but a 12/12 flyer just looks too indimidating not to deal with immediately. And while all his guns go to this guy, you're holding onto your REAL winner.

What else do we have? Crimson Mage, Geosurge, Gutshot, and Assault Strobe.
So, we Gutshot, the opponent (1 damage) Geosurge into Furyborn Hellkite, use Crimson Mage to give him haste, Assault Strobe the Hellkite and swing for 24.

Turn 1: Mountain or Red/Black land, play Goblin Fireslinger or Tormented Soul.
Turn 2: Land, tap Goblin or attack with Soul. Play Iron Myr.
Turn 3: Land, tap Goblin or attack with soul, tap 3 lands and Myr, play Geosurge, play this.
Turn 4: Profit.
Not that hard in a good red/black deck.
