@CSI: Unless something specifically has shroud already, there is no reason you can't equip a creature with the mask. Giving something shroud or hexproof doesn't make any prior enchantments fall off. In the case of Ice Cage, it will, but only because of the effect of Ice Cage.
And yes, you can equip it several times, but only the creature currently equipped has hexproof.

Quick question, because I'm away from the game currently. The creature is hexproof, but can the equipment be targeted and destroyed?

Its a fair card. The one qualm I have, if they had a response they would have used it before you put the equipment on. Which renders the ability defense against top deck.
You could wait until turn 5 to drop a two converted mana cost creature and equip this to it. But that still leaves you open to instant speed responses or even board sweepers. Swiftfoot boots are much better, because your only adding 
to the converted mana cost instead of 
and haste is stronger then +1/+2 in my humble opinion.
