This guy is a present day Abu Ja'far, except I can't decide which one I like better. I'd probably say Abu Ja'far because if he is blocked they are destroyed too.

Actually a very nice card. Has good synergy with any way to make him indestructable, as others have said (Indestructibility, Darksteel Plate and Avacyn among others.
Might be worth noting the ability activates BEFORE combat damage, which means that trampling creatures are neutered too

Indestructibility = deathtouch. Problem is a -1/-1 counter kills it right away.

no quite death touch, he destroys the creature when he blocks, so he would be able to live through blocking a creature with wither or infect
