I wish it wouldn't tap itself.

I'm not sure about constructed, but this guy is AMAZING in limited. I had huge success with his shutdown/kill effect. Extremely effective in control builds.
5/5

More expensive but more versatile than Stun Sniper.

Did they misname this card? The water mark is Phyrexian, the flavour is Phyrexian, and even thou the creature in it has four arms it looks more Phyrexian than Vedalken.

@jnorm: look at the original Mirrodin block, Ravnica block, and Scars - only in Alara were they artifacts ('cause Esper was weird). Vedalken were just a blue race WOTC made up to replace Merfolk when they didn't want to print them.
@BloodDragon: it's obvious this vedalken has joined Phyrexia and been... compleated.

Activation cost is too much to be overpowered.

Too expensive to be Constructed playable (tappers generally aren't, anyway), but very powerful in Limited. Ranks close to the best MBS removal, I'd probably only take a Burn the Impure, Go for the Throat or Spread the Sickness over it.

Combos well with Training Grounds and Sphinx of Magosi. Attack with the Sphinx, and during your opponent's combat phase, untap him and put a -1/-1 counter on him for one blue mana. Then draw a card and put a +1/+1 counter on him for one more blue mana. Truth in Victory!
