No, you're not playing one more mana for Furnace of Rath.
Because Furnace of Rath is a double edged sword, it hurts you too. This is a Curse, it only hurts your opponent.
(better in my opinion, especially for Standard burn decks)

This turns Sorin's vengeance into a one-shot kill. J'aime beaucoup.

Curse of the Pierced Heart seems slightly less lame now.
...slightly.

Commander Review: for voltron decks that aim at dealing more than 20 damage to a player with the commander, it's a pretty good card. However, I'd probably still play gratuitous violence or rage reflection over this card. Why? Because then my stuff is stronger against all opponents. Also, if I kill the opponent whom I played this curse on, the curse would be put into my graveyard. If I kill my opponent with the other cards I mentioned, those cards stay in play to let me (hopefully) kill more players.
3.5/5 for voltron decks (2/5 for other Commander decks).

The moment I saw it, I knew that all those annoying red/black Sorin Markov + Sorin's Vengeance + various removal decks that plague MTGO casual just got even more unbearable. They don't even need Sorin anymore.

Mostly just a Fire Servant that's a little harder to remove, that's still pretty okay for what it is.
