Either of these abilities would've been good, but both makes him insanely powerful in a casual environment. If you don't have the removal to get rid of him quickly, your opponent will draw cards - and lots of them. With how many cheap, effective equipments there are in anything that isn't standard (there's still a few in standard), and also equipment fetching creatures like Stoneforge Mystic, he'll just keep drawing and drawing and drawing.

In a non-standard environment throw in stuff like Leonin Shikari, and with the 0 equip cost blocking becomes a nightmare. Whichever creature you don't block will be given all the stuff to take off over half your health.

A great card but so, so strong.

I recently built a standard-legal casual deck using this fine fellow, Swiftfoot Boots, a bunch of 1-2 drop equipments, and Goblin Gaveleer.

Innistrad's Clifftop Retreat helps ensure I can get Paladins on the field, and once I get a good 12 equipments out on turn 4 (due to the INSANE card draw with the Paladins), I just have to draw one Goblin, and I can win.

The deck is a giant gamble every time you run it, but watching your opponent's face as you swing with a 24/7 Hexproof Haste First Strike Trample Vigilance monstrosity and then Fling it is worth the risk.

Right now the second best rated card in all new phyrexia (just under Elesh norn)
I'd love to make an equipment casual deck with this and Leonin Shikari. I've indeed tried it in ***atrice and if you get the metalcraft you're on your way to mess it a lot. Not that it's any competitive anyway.

This said this card is certainly not better than phyrexian metamorph, phyrexian obliterator, batterskull or sword of war and peace... it's just so mirran, with such and amazing art...

I built a fun control deck around him using the normally rather useless Wolfhunter's Quiver and Avacyn's Collar plus Mortarpod.
Without any disrupt, one Increasing Devotion is gg after two turns, and the opponent doesn't get to use creatures thanks to Vault of the Archangel.
Deathtouch Machinegun of Pingy Death :D

This guy is a beast in an Innistrad W Human Tribal. Just sprinkle in a bunch of Equipments and this dude is not only a draw engine, but and equip engine for your humans. 5/5
