When and infect deck runs into a land-draw, I don't think there are any better ways to use your mana

This with Kulrath Knight and/or Necroskitter and/or Crumbling Ashes and/or all sorts of other -1/-1 manip from Shadowmoor, Eventide, and Morningtide is pretty brutal.

@KnexWiz: that's actually not true.
Let's say this pings and kills a Strangleroot Geist with a +1/+1 counter. Once the ability resolves and puts a -1/-1 counter on it, SBAs make their check. During this check, the game notices two things:
1. "This creature has a toughness 0 or less!"
2. "This permanent has both -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters on it!"
So it performs two actions:
1. The creature is put in the graveyard.
2. -1/-1 and +1/+1 counters are removed in matching pairs until only one type is left.
It performs all of these checks and actions at the same time and in the same SBAs 'instance,' so at the time when it went to the graveyard, it had both types of counters on it, so it's not returned to the battlefield.
In order to work the way you're describing, SBAs would have to check the game state, perform only one action (removing counters), them check again to send it to the graveyard - at which point it has more than 1 toughness so it wouldn't get sent. SBAs a... (see all)

@Magnor_Criol: So ping it BEFORE the Strangleroot Geist takes lethal combat damage. It's not that hard to think of.
