Both, Gideon's Avenger and this card should have been blue.

- First of all, the "{T}: Tap target creature" ability was blue at first.
- Second, it fits well next to Sleep and Frost Breath. I can imagine how a Wizard uses some sort of Daze, Enervate or Mind Games effect, whereas the white spells are free of flavor.
- Third, I would rather swap bounce to white instead.

The last part is tricky, but white already has gating (see Whitemane Lion) and Excommunicate. This could symbolize the "banish" or "purge" theme, especially if you think of creatures as summoned beings.

A white AEther Adept would be a creature-version of an Excommunicate. A Vedalken Mastermind or Wizard Mentor would symbolize some sort of Medic or MedEvac, sending the "wounded" creatures to h... (see all)

I like blinding mage better. They cant ping it with a sturdy 2 toughness. Plus, I dont like using planeswalkers companion cards if I am not using the planeswalker.

I love how the M12 team must've thought "hey, Blinding Mage isn't good enough in limited already, so lets take him down to 1 mana and get rid of that useless 2 toughness to make up for it".

An absolute ripper in limited, and perhaps the most devastating of all, it pretty much nullifies Ice Cage, which is a real shame when blue is very limited in its removal of creatures that have already hit the table.

Since Gideon's Lawkeeper was released in M12 it has become a staple in all my white decks. It's one cost ability has the potential to stop an attacker, stop a defender and making a cards tap ability redundent. This card is a welcome addition to any team and his combo with Gideon's Avanger makes a soldier themed deck even more usable.

I like this much better than Blinding Mage, i'd rather get it out and risk it getting pinged for one, but the flavor makes more sense in blinding mage. He blinds things, they can't do stuff. Works on most anything. But as far as this guy, I get that he's stopping people with whips or something, but can he really whip a Primordial Hydra into submission?

I'm gonna miss Blinding Mage from M11 Limited, but at least I can run both in my Numot EDH. The deck needs tappers desperately in the early game to remain political. Then it Wraths the board so everyone cools it. Then it kills you.

Edit: this wil never be less than a four-of in any deck I include it in. A couple days ago I held off an Angelic Arbiter and a Sunblast Angel after getting wrathed with just two of these little guys. Then I dropped an Accorder Paladin, who waltzed in past the tapped angels to finish him off. The best {W} I've ever spent since Path to Exile.
