Every EDH deck I've made has one of these guys. Simply amazing, even in a vacuum. Add in graveyard hijinks and flickering, and is becomes a plain game-winner.

This card would be so much better if the second ability read "when Solemn Simulacrum leaves the battlefield..." so that flickering gave you both bonuses...

4.5/5 for an otherwise amazing card that I almost always try to run.

I love reading the derpy, low-rated comments on this card. The people who underestimate this card don't understand how Hell's Caretaker works. Or Tinker. Or the color pie.
If you get to draw a card from paying the sacrifice cost, You're already ahead.
If you get to draw a card in Red, land ramp in Blue or do BOTH in White, you're also ahead.

Look at it this way:

something eldrazi sounding {4}

Sorcery
Search your library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped.
Put a 2/2 Golem Creature token onto the battlefield. Draw a card.

@Steel_ninja
There's actually a lot of "blink" that uses the graveyard instead of exile. As long as you have a way to kill it (combat, a sac outlet, etc.), you can trigger both effects with quite a few cards. My personal favorite is Undying Evil, but there's also Angelic Renewal, Cauldron Haze, Faith's Reward, Graceful Reprieve (the most vanilla of them all), and a lot more. Don't forget the new (and awesome) Rescue from the Underworld either.

I've always thought this card was overrated, but I never figured out how to properly abuse it.

I feel like the name "Solemn Simulacrum" would make more sense for a Clone-like creature.
