Hm...with Gravecrawler, Geralf's Messenger, other undying fun, token action...the main drawback for me is sorcery speed.

Only good in decks were you WANT to get rid of your own stuff. Otherwise, just go with other black destruction: Doom Blade, Victim of Night, etc. The extra 1 CMC is worth not sacing a creature.

The more I look at this card, the more I want to add it to my zombie deck. I also REALLY love the art on this. Possibly my all time favorite card art.

Just ordered a set of these in foil for my Abyssal Persecutor deck for under $4.00! The artwork on this reprint surpasses the original in every way imaginable. Removal like this and Tragic Slip are so evil and yet so elegantly designed for a deck that thrives on sacrificing, morbid and even unearth.

It's cards like this that define black, and seperate the players that would otherwise be too intimidated to reap the rewards of graveyard based play.

5/5 - awesome reprint!

I run this in a "dies" deck with a bunch of creatures such as Mortis Dogs, Perilous Myr, and Blistergrub. Back that up with cards like Tragic Slip, Flesh Allergy, and Rite of Consumption and your deck is pretty much "honey badger" over losing creatures.

The over all strategy is to keep the board clear and use creatures like Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble to turn every creature death into a ping against the opponent. When all of your creatures ping when they die, saccing them to Bone Splinters to remove your opponents creatures and ping them yet again is no sweat with the built in life gain. Other cards such as Death Cultist, Sylvok Lifestaff and Rite of Consumption keep a positive life swing so that potentially not having a constant stream of blockers isn'... (see all)
