This pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for any hope RDW had of still being good in Standard.
Besides that, so much fun and so comboable! I love this set.

Seems overrated, though it still looks like fun.

The various blue cards that switch power and toughness might be handy if this thing ever becomes part of some crazy combo.

question about this card: Does the Tree's toughness get reset at end of turn, or is it permanent ?

Thanks, Chamale, that question just occurred to me, and I was about to come in here to ask.

From the FAQ:
When the ability resolves, Tree of Redemption's toughness will become your former life total and you will gain or lose an amount of life necessary so that your life total equals Tree of Redemption's former toughness. Other effects that interact with life gain or life loss will interact with this effect accordingly.
Overly Complicated (and expensive) Combo:
For simplicity, let's say your life total is 23
You have Tree of Redemption in play, unused. Use it, and your life total drops 10, Tree is now 0/23. Combine with Tainted Sigil to regain the life lost. Be sure to pay the cost for Searing Meditation to off an opponent's creature to trigger your Glissa, the Traitor, to return the sigil to your hand, then reuse it for a net gain of 10. If you have something which allows you to untap the tree, then you can start all over again! Remember, each time you give some life to the tree, you add 10 more to the sigil. :... (see all)

Straight from the Innistrad FAQ:
* If Tree of Redemption isn't on the battlefield when the ability resolves, the exchange can't happen and the ability will have no effect.
Exchange can't happen unless all objects or characteristics are where they are supposed to be. In this case, the toughness of a creature named Tree of Redemption on the battlefied which's activated ability tries to resolve.

This card makes all Hatred-type cards that let you pay life in addition to the casting cost essentially free. And hey, look, both of those cards (and the native life gain color, white) are in Doran, the Siege Tower's colors.

Wow, this card is deranged! Fun, but crazy - feels like something they would have printed ages ago in Legends or Arabian Nights.
