Yea, it's obviously overcosted, and could use a bigger body, but I think the ability is very good and extremely versatile. Having this guy on the field pretty much makes all combat a lose-lose situation for your opponent.

You've got to remember that his ability can be used offensively as well as defensively. Make your 3/3's take out 6/6's and kill anything of this with a toughness under 3.

Waaaay overpriced IMO. There are much better large black creatures for the same, or lower cost, such as nightmare, dread, visara the dreadful, sengir vampire, hollowborn barghest, etc.

I love this card's mechanics, a modern version would be sick.

Reanimate it on to the field to get around the cost and I'd say you got a winner.

I love that he only deals 2 damage to you AND doesn't tap. Not that I use him, and no, that isn't sarcasm. All of the other demons with a similar drawback die, kill you, or some other terrible event. This guy I could throw out roughly turn 2 and start controlling the game for a couple health a turn. Admittedly, I'd much rather do that with a pestilence demon or something though...

One of my favorite artworks.
Reminds me of the Phlebiac Brothers. :D
Also, it's a minion... And yellow.

It's strange that they thought giving a creature +3/-2 was more powerful than destroying a creature or land, and so to make this card balanced with Minion of Leshrac they felt it necessary to give it -1/-1. Yeah, the upkeep is easier, but black is built around putting creatures in the graveyard.
