this would be an interesting addition to the RTR golgari, especially with corpsejack menace and death's presence

You don't have to use the ability every turn. Just keep it around, and at the end of your opponent's turn, if you have a mana to spare, pump him. I mean, surely you don't always use every single drop of your mana, do you?

it's a colorless 1/1 for 1. if that is somehow not good enough, then this game has been so PowerCreeped they might as well reprint anything that's not Reserved. Go ahead, let's bring back Necropotence while we're at it, JUST for lulz. :P
A 1/1 for 1 is decent in Constructed, and outstanding in Limited. I'm not saying its back-breaking board advantage or anything, but it is actually aggressive.

Has good potential. if you only have a 2CC (or nothing) for turn 3, it let's you use that extra mana. Has a bit more potential on early defense (i.e. block, tap to buff, kill other feature). I like it! I think it could do well in draft!

It's a cute card, but the activation cost kills it.
In the late game, it's too tiny and too slow. In the early game, this is bad too, because it acts as a stone rain on yourself, in trade for a creature with defender (if you want it to grow).
