Strictly better than punching yourself in the head repeatedly until mana appears in your pool.

@ClockworkSwordfish: But at least that way you can get red mana.

Haha! Nice clockwork, actually laughed at that one. This is a pretty decent card, can't think of any other elf types that'll help you bring out an "(insert high casting cost blue green card)"

gemhide sliver is better if you are not using this for an elf deck. It is certainly better than utopia tree or druid of the anima due to creature type and the ability to produce any color of mana respectively. Of course, BoP is still better.

This is the very first card I've seen that produces only 3 kinds of mana which aren't "shard" colors (WhiteRedGreen, WhiteBlueBlack, WhiteBlueGreen, BlueBlackRed or BlackRedGreen).

If you're running any 2 of these colors I would usually rather have this than Gemhide Sliver since I'm probably not using slivers but my opponent might be.

As far as BOP, of course it's worse, it's a common, if it wasn't worse then it would be broken, but honestly I would rather use this card in a {G}{U}{B} deck, it just seems more fun cause then you picked out a card for that deck, not I have BOP and I'm running a deck with green, not to mention you can pick this up and get change from your quarter instead of dropping a solid 5$ (not quite) on a single Birds

Pauper and Peasant are two different formats. Pauper allows only commons while Peasant allows up to five uncommons.
