I cannot believe no one has made a Subway joke yet. I'm disappointed in all of you.

Splinterfright just got a new BFF.
in the Splinterfright deck your self milling and with this guy even if you mill over him its not that bad getting him back. and when your done doing big damage with Splinters you can just use Jarad to fling him.

Um, this isn't a reprint... Jarad was a preview card in the dual deck - he was always intended to be in this set, but anyone who bought that deck got to use him early.
Anyway, he's a great card and clearly designed for Commander. Powerful, fun, and yet not overwhelming or boring in some non-interactive way.

Unless you scavenge onto Jarad himself, he kind of has antisynergy with his own guild's theme. Then again none of the guild leaders really have good synergy with their keyword minus Trostani and maybe Isperia, Supreme Judge

He's not totally busted and the art isn't amazing, but I still think he's a pretty cool and interestingly designed card. Obligatory good in EDH comment....maybe not as a commander though.

I used to lock down my friends reanimator deck with Venser, the Sojourner and
Stonehorn Dignitary until I recommended him to add Jarad so he can throw his biggies straight to my face.
...Now I regret telling him.

Hilarious EDH general. While his mass-fling doesn't count as commander damage, its far too easy to just pump a creature to 40 power through cards like Berserk, or Wine of Blood and Iron. Especially if you're starting with something like Lord of Extinction, Worldspine Wurm, or Mossbridge Troll.
Just disgusting amounts of damage. So you just bide your time until the major players of tapped out, or preoccupied before launching a 4 man 40+ damage head-shot.
Honestly, his colors could not have been more perfect for this type of deck.

@hedronMatrix,
Unfortunately Worldspine Wurm's second ability would trigger, so would be shuffled back into the library before the undying effect from Mikaeus, the Unhallowed brought it back on to the battlefield. Creatures always go to the graveyard when they die. Something like Ghoultree would be better friends with Jarad and Mik :)
Someone correct me if I happen to be wrong.

This, plus a Corpsejack Menance, plus Death’s Presence just creates a solid powerhouse. Personally I love it.
