I quite often carry Evacuate in my more creature-vulnerable blue decks to avoid being swamped, with the understanding that it'll set me back a little bit if I have to use it. This card clears up that problem, AND even has a lower casting cost.

Very useful. Not a staple, but for the right blue deck this is a godsend.

"i got a question its my turn i play mark of mutiny take opponents 4/4 creature he becomes a 5/5 creature i attack with him and a 2/2 creature of mine then play devour flesh on his stolen creature then he plays Ætherize in response what happens ?? "

@ daniel92380: First of all, you can't play Devour Flesh on a creature. You cast it on a player, and it's their choice what creature to sacrifice. They don't have to choose which creature to sacrifice until the spell resolves.

But the answer to your question is, it depends. If you cast Devour Flesh during your second main phase, then their Ætherize would do nothing, because there are no attacking creatures outside the combat phase. See the rulings on Ætherize. In that case, when you cast Devour Flesh you'd get to choose which of your creatures to sacrifice, and you'd probably choose to sacrifice the creature you had borrowed with Mark of Mutiny. If you did, it would be sacrifi... (see all)

This card strikes fear in your opponent every single time they know you have it. I personally like bluffing about having it just to make them extra wary about sending too many attackers. For extra EDH fun, make sure you aetherize someone's huge army when they're sending it all at someone else! They never see it coming!

This thing is nucking futs in EDH, especially if you're using it with Bident of Thassa and any way to get it out of the graveyard.
There's nothing more satisfying than ruining an alpha strike from a Relentless Rats EDH.

How is this card not rated higher? It's so powerful and reliable. Definitely one of the better cards out of GTC. I mean, c'mon! "Take no combat damage and set your opponent back a few turns." For 3Blue. Only 3.7 stars? Deserves at least 4 IMO.

I agree - definitely needs to be a 3.5 - 4 star. A common that is 3Blue to return all attacking creatures to their owner's hand. Unlike Evacuation, you can only use it on **ATTACKING** creatures, which I can see as a disadvantage in a number of cases, though more often than not I find myself needing spells like this when creatures are attacking me - in which case I'm glad this exists - and Blue cheaper than Evacuation. I'd definitely run both.
