Wow I love this card! It isn't going to see any play outside of limited and casual but it is really good for both. How many times has wizards thrown us just a plain old 6/2 for five mana type card and called it a day? Too many times, but this card has the ability to actually make itself useful and potentially become a huge threat it limited!

Even the Biomancer in the flavor text realizes this card is underwhelming without anything beyond evolve.

Well, you could have frog instead, but then it'd be a 1/1 with no abilities, so you're just gonna have to deal with it.

A 6/2 for 5-mana is about right for a green common that will never see play unless someone's truly desperate for Limited fodder. I'm not convinced slapping a poorly-designed mechanic on it will cause it to become less unplayable however. I suppose we'll have to see if Evolve makes a splash or if, as I presume, it's merely another unwieldy keyword that says too much and does too little.

Love the flavor text! This card fills a useful role in a Simic deck. The unbalanced stats really drive it; this will evolve almost everything you have out on turn 5, and anything you play afterwards should make it a 7/3, and it still has potential after that.

People shouldn't be so critical on this card, it really lives up to the evolve mechanic both for itself and other creatures and it's a common so you can never expect too much. 3.5/5, great for evolve and easily splashable with some gyre sages out.

Dies to some pretty weak removal, but if it happens to survive you've got a good creature that gets better.
