Combos with Feed the Pack, 5 extra 2/2 wolves, nice! Edit with Trostani, Feed the Pack and a 1/1 non-token creature you can get 6 Wolves and gain 12 life not too shabby!

I'm running Gruul dev with 4x BTE's and ramp and this is the best way I can find to avoid wipes from Anger/Mortars which set me back big time. It's also a decent combat trick, Wasteland Viper blocked and killed Desecration Demon... and lived. Also helped my groundpounding chumps defend my planeswalkers from Stormbreath Dragons.

Way better than solidarity. Yet still rated the same. Go figure.

Unless you're running Doran or need the reach effect, there are better options even than this nowadays (lots of cheap indestructability, protection, and massive pumps when blocking).
