This is one of those rare instances where casting Guard Duty or something like that on one of your own creatures can be beneficial =)

Canopy Cover can also help him stay on the field longer too.

Protection from creatures and killing a creature for touching you are pretty mythic qualities (Teysa).

Same goes for "Everything has Scavenge, also I have staying power and loads self synergy" (Varolz).
