Kind of a nonbo with Thassa, herself. Why make them attack if you can hit them unblockable?

Actually, it's really good with Spear of Heliod. Bufffs your blockers, then anyone who you allow to gets through you can blow up.

In fact, I'd say this combos really well with Heliod, himself. Vigilance means you can hit them while their creatures are tapped and still block them when you make them attack next turn, and tokens means either chump blockers or more creatures to draw cards with.

Plays well on its own and plays well with its master. Very nice design.

It's alright, but the activated ability is a little weird. I don't mind it though, it seems neat.

@ Fenix, there's another reason why this isn't strictly better than Coastal Piracy...

Bident also dies to Artifact removal (Creeping Corrosion, Manic Vandel, etc.) while Coastal Piracy survives the onslaught.

HURRAY FOR PIRACY!

Edit: going in my Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind deck! Also good for multiplayer shenanigans.

Vorthos here, the flavor has me swooning.

Her bident puts me in mind of the new flavortext on Griptde. "When the sea god Thassa wishes to speak with a mortal, she does not issue a summons or grant a vision requesting a visit. The sea simply brings her guest before her." The Bident making enemy creature's attack feels like that to me. Thassa rules the tide, and in magic that tide is the tide of battle. She does not fully control it, the tide moves in and out, she only makes it stronger, a griptide, to pull those who have earned her displeasure before her.

The tide going out - rushing at the sea displeases her, but it is necessary, so that the tide may rush up again upon the shore. this inrush is her pleasure, and in pleasure the goddess of the mind finds treasures on the shore, ideas new to her. At the other's expense thassa's bounty is born.

There were no formal matches between the gods, there were rumors that Porphoros desired Nylea and ... (see all)
