I like that green gets its own Typhoid Rats. Green is always in need of ways to deal with opposing creatures. Also, I'm always glad when new scorpions get released.

For one mana in Limited you get a creature that will basically go unblocked for the first couple/few turns while your opponent tries to decide what to do about a little 1/1 with deathtouch barring down on them every turn. Then they will inevitably throw one of their weaker creatures at it, causing you to deal 2-3 damage and kill a creature, all for the cost of a single green mana.

This guy helped me out a lot at the prerelease. Particularly after I bestowed a Spearpoint Oread onto it, giving him the ultimate evasion.

First Strike/Deathtouch: Block me, I dare you!

@thewalkingdead: Lesson #1 in discussing Magic cards is indeed determining what is better based on cost, least restricted to multiple colors, and with a higher P/T... but that isn't all that makes a card good. For one, as a common, this card is mostly for limited, not standard, so any "this other card is better" argument there is already pretty obvious and fairly ridiculous to make. Wasteland Viper, meanwhile, is an uncommon and thus shows up less in limited, so Sedge Scorpion would possibly still be a worthwhile card due to limited even if they were in the same set. There's also the Pauper format that allows commons but nothing else, so Wasteland Viper is useless there... This card is also easier to learn and thus great for intro decks. Sure, I will run Wasteland Viper over this in many situations, but this is still a fantastic card and not something to be dismissing just because there's a stronger card in one of the formats it's in.

I love this card. 1 drop for a 1/1 deathtouch is just to awsome. Early game no one wants to trade for it and mid to late game your always gonna take out something bigger or make your opponent waste a removal spell on it. Doesn't get much better than that. Only down side I can see is thanks to the bestow ability everyone's gonna be playing with.

A 1/1 for 1 with deathtouch and it's a common? why is this rated so damn low, sure it isn't a Wasteland Viper but that's uncommon. Also the flavor on this card is outstanding, my god.

This is going to be a quintessential one drop for any deck with green for it's standard rotation, no doubt about it.

Yes it is strictly worse than wasteland viper (+0/+1 a more useful subtype and Bloodrush {G}) . that being said it is also a common compared to an uncommon. This isn't a bad card and I wouldn't be surprised to this played in constructed especially in EDH where you can only play one viper.

I like the little bugger. Never noticed scorpion was a subtype.
