Oh wow, I had it all wrong..

What I thought this card did until i just now read the rulings is "{5}: Target a nonland permanent with a spell or ability that you control. Exchange control of Avarice Totem."

I used to think that this was the one and only way of targeting through shroud, or using Stone Rain on a planeswalker :/

I think this card is underrated. And here is my justification:

First of all, this only costs 1 mana and is colorless. So any color can use it and it comes out immediately. There are many 1 mana artifacts that arn't that good, but people run them anyway just because they are a cheap artifact. (Maybe they need metalcraft or they are planning to storm)

Just think about how powerful it is to exchange something at just the right moment... At the end of your opponent's turn, if they are tapped out, tap 5 and take their biggest creature! On your turn, what do you do? You swing! Imagine taking their Eldrazi rigth as they cast it... It could be devistating.

You could even use this card defensively as well. You could exchange with their biggest creature to prevent them from killing you for the turn. It feels as though too many people are turned off by the fact that your opponent gets the option to exchange back. But to me, it feels as though for just 1 mana early game, it could sit there on t... If you enchanted the Totem with Steal Artifact, then activated it, would it swap and then immediately come back to you before your opponent has a chance to activate it?

I was playing against my personal MTG rival's Zedruu EDH deck, and we played tug of war between this and his mimic vat with my general in it for about an hour. Eventually I screamed and ripped my shirt off. First time I've ever rage-quitted a mtg game
