For those of you who did not play back when this was in the core set, it's important to know a few things:
- There were not many ways of dealing damage on the first turn. This did so, in potentially any color deck.
- The game was much slower, and land destruction was plentiful and cheap. Strip Mine, Sinkhole and Ice Storm are not easy cards to recover from early in the game. This meant your hand might be close to full often, and you might be taking damage from the vise every turn.
- While White had Disenchant, Red had Shatter, and Green had Crumble, Black had next to no ways to permanently deal with artifacts, and Blue could also have problems with this.
