Conspiracy for Clerics makes this guy a lot better: you can throw around cheap tokens and crack them instead (of note: Sengir Autocrat turn 4). This both prevents the card disadvantage issue to a degree and makes it easier to find additional Scions. Don't forget that he can find Scion from the 'yard, so rev up those Nuisance Engines!

The obvious cycling synergy is pretty nice. If you don't mind card disadvantage (and you probably don't if you're running this..)
consider dropping the dragon shadow, dragon wings and especially dragon breath into the graveyard. Doing all this with a Putrid imp will require a *very* admirable hand but will allow you to pound early. That said, he's not as good until they have something worth reanimating!
Consider running this guy in {B}{U} with artificial evolution. If you name Spirits then it's easy to run Nether Shadow, Nether Traitor, and Bloodghast to get repeatable Scions no matter what your opponent does!
