This plus Experiment Kraj is ridiculous, especially in EDH. Since it lets you spend the mana as any color, you can get around the only producing color of your general. Really fun for stealing opponent's abilities, and makes for really interesting interactions with March of the MAchines.

If you combine it with Both Niv Mizzet, The Firemind and Niv Mizzet, The Dracogenius you can pay four mana and deal infinite damage and draw infinite cards.

It's also good to use with Experiment Kraj just as a backup. If Kraj gets Meddling Mage-ed or something, you can fit this into most of its combos instead.

March of the Machines and this makes Door to Nothingness a lot easier to get the colors for. Of course, since Mycosynth Lattice can do that better and on its own its hardly the most impressive combo that this thing can do. Overall it seems like a slightly worse Kraj except for the fact that its only blue and easier to splash or fit into a deck already.

Merieke's ability says when she leaves the battlefield or becomes untapped. Because, however, you can't leave this guy tapped and the ability will be referencing this card, when he becomes untapped or leaves the battlefield you'll lose the creature.
