The cantrip to offset the inherent card disadvantage is where? Add the card to replace it and cut the cost to one, and then you'd have a card that would be exteremly limited, but situationaly not terrible.

I used to really like this card with pingers, but many times, either by a bad draw or not having any pingers alive, it was useless. I still like it, but Flame Slash might be a better alternative for straight creature damage, even though it's a sorcery.

This card is great. Just use it with granite shard. 7 dmg for 3 mana.

If you're just combining this with pingers, you're probably better off with Basilisk Collar.
Maybe in a Repercussion deck, though? Or with Boros Reckoner, Saber Ants, Druid's Call, or, um, Tamanoa.
