This card clearly has the potential to be a 2 mana beast if used correctly. Can quite easily shut down any aggro deck. Best part is how little sacrificing a land or two effects green. I also bet it's monstrous in EDH.

4.5/5

I don't even want to imagine a limited format where this card is an uncommon.

Wow, seriously? This card would've made TurboFog all by itself, since not even blue decks today run that many counters. Just play lots of Howling Mine effects, lots of Time Warp effects, and this. Too annoying!

Funny story: back when Stronghold was fairly new, I saw the card for the first time, and thought "damn that is crap", and didn't put it in my decks. Now, many many years later, it's in quite a number of my decks. :)
You don't even need crucible or something else. By itself, it's already an great card.

By itself a strong card. Paired with other things, scary.

So good in any card-advantage style deck. Even better when combined with Planar Birth

I've stalled games to a halt a few times while restabalising after huge losses or similar. No need to build around it, just include it if you have plenty of lands and worst case scenario? It's just a worse fog!

Solid with Dakmor Salvage, Bloodghast, and Narcomoeba.

Add Life from the Loam and Sylvan Library and Living Wish and Petrified Field and you've got the skeleton of a screwball Dredge TurboFog deck (hardest part is ).

This can really save your a**. Keep in mind that sacrificing the land isn't required, so it gets points for being situational when you are in dire need. Great combo potential too. Definitely belongs in a Crucible deck.

Supporting turbofog before turbofog existed. If you are using creatures as a win-con, this thing can be a greater annoyance than anything else. I can't believe they put buyback on fog, counterspell and boomerang.
