I always felt Morphling was little overrated - in that it is merely 'exceptional' as opposed to 'God in cardboard form' as many people have effectively described it.

There's no way Morphling is inferior to any other blue creature. Sphinx of Jwar Isle cannot attack for 5 flying then block a 5/6 Goyf right after, not to mention that the Sphinx would die from blocking that same Goyf. Against a strong MUC player who knows what he's doing, Morphie is almost unstoppable.

@laguz: To be fair, the original Morphling was created the same way. According to MaRo, the Morphling art (which doesn't really make sense based on it's abilities) was just some unused Clone art laying around

Really? Somebody didn't rate this 5? This is Morphling we are rating here, the best creature in magic? ever! Have you lost your head? He has EVERYTHING you could ever want in a blue creature! Do you not know why it's nickname is "Superman?"
I loved the Urza block. Still do of coarse but, when it was standard. Oh, I miss old school "Magic."
@Vorthosian: Are you kidding me? What are you talking about? You must be joking, or drunk and if not you are both. First of all Tarmogoyf is not even blue. Secondly, Meloku sucks and so does Keiga. Morphling is cheaper and has such better abilites. In fact, your observation is so wrong it has just become overwhelming clear to me that you were joking.
@Neutralion: Thornling better? Really? You must never have had the privilege of playing with Morphling, because if you have ever even played one game with Morphling you would know that he rocks the socks off of Thornling. I think Mr. Vorthosian could even figure that one ou... (see all)

It's not a bad creature at all, but definitely overrated now. If they had kept the damage on the stack rule, this would have been a 5/6 for five mana that can have flying, vigilance and shroud for 7UUU a turn. As it is now it can swing for five with shroud on the sixth turn if you pay 2U into it, and it will be chump-blocked by any ground creature out there unless you pay one U more, and then you have to assume they'll have no fliers. Then next turn if you want to untap it to block anything with more than 3 power you have to spend at least 1U. Spending so much mana on one creature really messes up your mana curve and you can't do much else with your turn other than attack, or block.
This seems like a classic example of people trying to seem like experienced players by blindly following what everyone else says. Personally I don't believe Morphling is worth the 10$. I know it's not the best creature in the game, but I would use it if it was maybe 1$ or something.
