Situationaly, this can be better than other highly comparable cards like Mogg Fanatic and Fume Spitter.

Mogg Fanatic:
Can help you get that extra point in combat to finish off an enemy creature.
Can help you deal an extra point of damage to the enemy player.
Does not help protect your creature from dying in combat (unless yours has first strike, or the enemy creature has only 1 toughness).
Does not help protect an important creature outside of combat.
Can help by being used to ping off small enemy creatures.

Fume Spitter:
Can help you get that extra point of damage in combat to finish off an enemy creature.
Does not help you deal an extra point of damage to the enemy player.
Can help protect your creature from dying in combat (because the enemy creature also receives decreased power, as well as toughness... (see all)
