If it hit creatures as well it would be overpowered. Really strong for what it does.

Skullcrack is almost as good for 1 mana less, which makes a difference. I'd rather be able to play a 2-drop and leave 2 mana up rather than play nothing just trying to wait on 3 mana for when I need to use this.

Skullcrack is actually better for 1 mana less. It stops all damage prevention that turn, not just the damage as related to the spell. Unlike flames of the bloodhand it will allow a source with protection from X to receive damage as normal, it will stop fog-like effects, fog bank-like effects, and more.
