i like this guy in some green EDH decks, since 10 lands isn't unreasonable and the flipped dokai's ability can put build up a lot of pressure quickly.

Great abilitys. Combos well with bounce lands, those Worldwake land animation enchantments, and Treasure Hunt. And landfall, of course. Play as part of a Selective Memory/Treasure Hunt combo deck, using Tideforce Elemental to untap Budoka/Dokai.

Selective Memory/Treasure Hunt? No, use Scouting Trek instead.

I liked this guy quite a lot, what with his good interactions with moonfolk. In truth, I often was hesitant to flip him, sometimes the land drop just got more done :P

Kamigawa was a very interesting set, but it really only works inside its own set. In any case, the problem I have with this card is 10 lands? Really? It sounds easy with the ability, but I've played sakura tribe scouts and while I get some fun out of land fall with them, you typically run out of all your extra land cards in one to three turns, and after that your auto playing them anyways. Can use it in a land fall type deck though to play lands during your opponents turn, which makes a difference with cards like steppe lynx and plated geopede.

Funny, this one works well in a modded Coalition deck.

It's really hard to flip, but it flips into a guy better than all the other ones.

I think this guy is a lullmage, and when he transmutated into Dokai, he bequeathed his power to the book he left behind.

I don't know why flip cards weren't popular. There's a lot of interesting unexplored design space there.
