even without the second ability, a 6/6 trample in for 6 mana is pretty good for monoblack

This card does crazy things with Evoke costs. Even without that, it's an amazing card, especially since it functions as a usefull, if a little slow, green attack creature and brings cards back to your hand.

actually it barely synergizes withGroundbreaker.. note groundbreaker says at the end of turn, sacrifice it. this is only at the end of your turn. So yeah, awesome, you get him back on your turn and can block with him. but at the end of your opponents turn he dies and you dont have a groundbreaker.

I have shoved him in a deck based around Grave pact and nantuko Husk. I sacrifice my creatures than return them to play. Also works well with symbiotic wurm.

Cabal Patriarch + Pawn of Ulamog + This Card = Non-stop debuffs and Eldrazi Spawn tokens
Combine that with Attrition after obtaining enough forces and you can basically wipe the field

does evoke work with its ability? if so Inner-Flame Acolyte is gets =+2 and haste
Edit: oh only once a turn you could still make a strange deck with it red and green maybe black or black and green Shriekmaw is a good option
