@Stygimoloch LOL, great now I have a song called "Surfin' Bird" by Trashmen in my head XD
Well...Everybody's heard about the bird.
The tree is still a very solid card (and the art is pretty too).
I don't really compare it to the birds (it will always lose to those flying little urchins).

It's a shame that this is going to go down in history as 'the bad Birds' - it's a fine card in its own right. It's just that Birds of Paradise is almost always better and there's only so many slots of mana fixing a deck wants.

I wish this were a defender so it could synergize with overgrown battlement as well.

I find it odd that this is a rare, and Gemhide Sliver is a common, despite that Gemhide is actually stronger and a better card.

Birds of Paradise lite! The tree is a slightly better blocker, but do you really need a 'blocker' or do you need speed?

Rare? Did they decide to get rid of Birds of Paradise for Ninth edition? The card's kind of cool but it definitely doesn't strike me as a rare.

You can only run 4 birds, so if you wanted you could run these guys along side them.

I think the reason Birds wasn't in 9th edition was because Birds was in Ravnica block, which was right next door to 9th edition.

This would be a sweet uncommon mana accelerator for draft formats.
