I managed to play this in a large 4 player game when an opponent had 100 saproling tokens out.

Epic.

This card is not okay...it should be banned in casual multiplayer :/
Anywho, to you, mudbutton, sure, my original post was a little extreme.
But you have to understand, some playgroups just don't have access to sweepers better than Infest. It's a pain in the ass in such a group. Plus, in that kind of group, few aggro decks can kill turn 4 if they face resistance. The tempo loss that this common produces is just unreasonable in those circumstances.

Hahaha, banned in casual play is laughable. Maybe your group should start playing board clearers in their decks? :P

I run this in any EDH deck I make involving white. Most of the people I play against are heavy on making swarm armies, be they saps, goblins, elves, or anything else that can be mass-produced. It's always entertaining to watch them build up an 'infinite' army, swing, and then I drop this in response, then wrath next turn. There's also a combo with this and False Cure for massive, almost unstoppable life loss.

Beautiful artwork.
Concerning the card, I think it is discrete in a two-player match (and to keep in sideboard), but can be devastating in multiplayer, since it can give a very huge amount of life for 4 mana.

This + Vizkopa Guildmage's second ability in a multiplayer game usually = about 20-30ish damage direct to each one of your opponents at once, for 7 mana total. And it's instant speed to boot!

I can't rate this card a 5, even though it deserves it. It has totally upended so many multiplayer (and even 1-on-1) casual matches that I've lost count. Without even crafting a specific deck strategy to accomplish it, I've seen players gain over 100 life and this puts them well out of range of the damage a lot of decks can deal. So, izzet_guild_mage, I certainly sympathize. The fact that it's an instant compounds the problem, and its power.

That being said, life gain is not degenerate. And decks should be running sweepers of some variety. Congregate is always good for a laugh in certain situations (Player 1:"I'll create infinite squirrels." Player 2: "OK, I'll gain 2*infinite life, mark it down on the ledger.")
