This, right here, is what Magic: the Gathering is all about.

Akroma is indeed easy to take out. My friend and I were playing each other with our W decks just for the hell of it, and he tossed out Akroma and went for my throat. I defended with Serra Angel and turned his smirk and shrug into a barely concealed rage when I used Righteousness to turn my angel into an 11/11. Regardless, Akroma's 6/6 with all of those abilities are quite nice. Of course she's going to be targeted, especially by blue decks which she has no defense against. If she is targeted, fine, the blue opponent I'm playing against just used a counter on my 6/6 Akroma and now I get to use Armored Ascension or equip Whispersilk Cloaks on whatever card I like. Anyway, my point is that just because a card is a target does not mean it does not have a place in a deck. As far as I am concerned, Akroma fills my deck as a red herring so my opponents get scared about the wrong thing. 4.5/5 due to the weaknes... (see all)

It's almost a comedy sketch, the number of ways in which Akroma hardly ever actually wins a game... be it Swords to Plowshares, Counterspell, Icy Manipulator, Wing Snare, Hurricane or just a really big blocker, she seems to have this amazing talent for never actually working against W, U, G or artifacts, no matter what deck she's in or who's piloting her. I'd almost feel sorry for her, if she wasn't such an irritating cow in the Otaria series.

When I got this card, I'd almost assume it were a gamewinner... but after playing with her in my mono-white deck for a few months, I've only used her once to pull off victory. Useually she becomes nothing more then a powerful blocker to prevent my opponent from attacking me with flying creatures.
Victory normally comes from either Armored Ascension, or a well placed attack with my balloonist... granting flying to a powerful creature without.
I've even considered taking her out of my deck to replace with a soldier card, since I play a mostly soldier deck.

I miss drawbacks on giant creatures. Down with all-upside design!
