Wow, and there's a card coming out in Avacyn Restored that's text is: "Whenever an opponent loses life, you gain that much life."

Incredibly powerful card, when you think about how much easier it is to gain life than force opponents to lose it. Lifegain is (generally) cheap and hard to counter, so this can quickly turn into a win condition.

Has some nice combos to it, but also can be decent in a deck packed full of lifelink creatures and drain spells.

I run it in a deck with Sun droplet and it's a HOUSE.
+ ghostly prison
+ baneslayer angel (yea, whatever, haters gonna hate.)
+ blind obedience
+ tainted sigil
+ ad nauseam
+ vampire nighthawk
+ oracle of nectars
