Best Duel Decks series card, ever, period. no arguments. Counting Mythics.
This is how Dan Greene cantrips.
EDIT: Now with the Release of Innistrad Block, I've decided to do a Two-Part Case File/Vorthos' Dissertation on Liliana Vess/Liliana of the Veil. Follow the link to see Part One.
Duel Decks: Divine/Demonic; Liliana/Garruk- Kothoped (Demonic Tutor) decides to send Liliana after a powerful ancient evil magical artifact of doomyness. Garruk and Liliana meet, she curses him casually and forgets all about him, Garruk develops an unnatural obsession over her. Damn women. Liliana, upon acquiring the Chain Veil, and being a Black Mage, sees a new way to win: Kill the Boss(es). Innistrad: Kothoped destroyed, hunting Griselbrand. Not only probably kills Griselbrand with aid from Sorin and Avacyn, I could even see Avacyn and Sorin encouraging Liliana to take Gissa the ghoulcaller with her when she leaves. Dark Ascension: au... Can I use Reverberate on this card if my opponent casts it on himself, then target myself with the copy of the spell???

I love using these to tutor up a Liliana Vess. That usually gets the groans rolling.

Strange! Traditionally demons are described as most deceptive and malevolent beings, but in MtG they are instead the most reliable and cost effective sources of information. That's contradictory and not flavorful at all.
The card here is of course broken beyond all reason.

Help me to understand something... I have 4 of the Revised edition DT. That cards is now 19 yrs old! Wow, I'm getting old.. That sucks :( Any who, how is it possible that I can currently purchase a playset of the revised DT for approximately $35 (including shipping) yet if I wanted to do the same with this BRAND STINKIN NEW version, it's just about DOUBLE the price?! And that for a card that was as easy to come by as walking into your neighborhood super target and buying the preconstructed package with 2 complete ready to play decks for a little more than the individual price of this single card which happens to be less than 2 yrs old right now!! Makes no sense. Insane. What it tells me is, sell your Mox's and Lotus's, your Time reversals and Time Walks, your Thoughtseize's n Clique's and so on and so forth NOW, while the getting is good. Everyone else that wants one, just wait. Sooner or later they will be reprinted (even if they're banned) and when that happens the new ones will be w... (see all)

@Mike-C: this is a limited edition reprint - of course it's going to be expensive. I'll take a wild guess and say that there exists at least four times as many Demonic Tutors from Revised as from the Devine vs. Demonic set. Also, the art is nice, and the card has the modern card frame and black borders. All of these things make the card more appealing and probably causes an increase in demand.
I personally own 3: got one from the Divine vs. Demonic set and got the other two through trade, and I can only say that they look incredibly good.

I am starting back up into magic and see that Demonic Tutor is restricted. What is the restricted number that I can have in a deck? I am assuming it is just 1?

Heeheehee RevLycan. Yes, you can just play 1 if it's "restricted".
I appreciate your desire to get back into Magic, but what you're suggesting is to get into Vintage. In Vintage, you can essentially play 1 copy of any of the cards banned in Legacy. As in, you could play 1 copy of Black Lotus ($3000+/ea), 1 copy of Ancestral Recall ($600+), 1 copy of Time Walk ($500+), etc. etc. etc. People really don't play Vintage. It's far too expensive to spend nearly $10,000 on a deck that only you and a few others can play. It's like the Fortune 500 of the Magic community.
If you have a Tutor and want to play it, start in EDH (Commander). It's legal there, you only need 1 copy of each spell (since you can't play more than 1 copy of a spell (excluding basic lands)), and many, MANY more people play EDH. It's perhaps the most popular casual format.
But in terms of Tutor, I love how there's new art for (arguably) the best card in Black. As many can tell, cards made pre-2003 (pre-new border) had a ... (see all)
