Where artifact creatures are concerned, this is identical to Soul Foundry. Epic.

Technically, Lotus Bloom has an unpayable mana cost, which {0} by default.

So, you could imprint this on the portal, tap the portal for no mana, and get a token Lotus Bloom that turn. Then you could Voltaic Key it, and then use Tezzeret the Seeker's first ability to untap them both, and crank out 2 more bloom tokens. Geez, now you just need to find something to spend the 12 mana on something that blue artifacts can't already get out by turn 5.

So many awesome ways to use this. I plan on trying to make a combo with Throne of Geth and either Ichor Wellspring or Arcbound Worker. The former would let you draw two and proliferate every turn for {2}, the latter would give an artifact creature a +1/+1 counter and proliferate every turn for {1}.

Also, Sculpting Steel would be awesome. You could pump one out every turn starting on turn 4. If you pull that off, your opponent probably won't be playing their Blightsteel Colossus.

706.2 says a token copy has all the same characteristics of the card it's copying, including converted mana cost.

Pump out voltaic keys with it then the turn after (or if you find an infinite mana generation source, the same turn) pump a bunch of counters into Grindclock. Likely to win. You will just need to use it in a deck with Memoricide to get rid of those pesky Eldrazi.

AT Johnald:

No need for Memoricide. Just play 4 Leyline of the Void...

If there's going to be a real deck featuring the portal, it will be imprinting cards with cmc of 0 or 1. Pipe dreams of replicating mind slaver or other astronomically high costed cards are just doomed to fail, miserably.

@Luke_BPC - That is just straight-up the superior combo. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just to make sure, Lotus Bloom has no CVC, so does that prevent you from tapping X and putting out a card with X as the CVC?

i.e. Does a card need a CVC for Portal's second ability to work on said card?

Any help is much appreciated, particularly if it helps me replicate Lotus Power.
