This guy must feel so stupid right now. What did he think would happen if he went after a genetically unstable fungus... tentacle... slime... hound... thing? And even if he did somehow find a way to kill it, what will he possibly do with it? There's no way that thing could be remotely appitizing. I mean, he's in a forest. He should have gone after a rabbit or deer or elk or something else that doesn't turn into a writhing wave of lichen and slime.

The ability would be fine on a bear; the problem is that nobody wants to target an insignificant 1/1.

if your opponent drops a black lotus and then accidentally targets this guy with 4 giant growths you can attack for 17 on turn 2!!!

Well, it has its uses. I don't see why the low rating, it's a 1-drop that you can do tricky things with (Vines of Vastwood in response to removal one for ones the removal and you still get a counter, for instance)

LAME. By the time it gets a counter it will get killed by the spelled it was targeted by. And only if your opponent decided to waste a card on him.
And the art, I can't even understand it. I don't even see a dog.

You could put this in UG controll deck. The mere targetting gives the counter and you can counter the threat after that.
