They said he could be anything he wanted to be, and he chose Pheldagrif.

I, for one, welcome our new {creature type} overlord.

I love the versatility of this card, and I'm even happier that Wizards didn't make him basically a "strictly better" lord.
This guy is a lord to any tribe, but most tribal lords give +1/+1 and have some ability (Goblin Chieftain's haste-giving, Cemetery Reaper's token-making, etc.)
So, while you CAN put him in tribal decks, and you SHOULD put him in tribal decks, he doesn't completely overshadow already-made lords.

What the hell? This concept is exactly the same as a card I made a few days ago.
Anyways...I can finally make an UNCLE ISTVAN TRIBAL DECK!

Man oh man, this card is boss.
A staple in every tribal deck without a lord. Fantastic flexibility.
5/5.

It's the lord of all lords! Seriously, you could pick "lord" as your creature type, and you'll have a "lord" lord. Not that it would do anything nowadays, but it's pretty nifty.
