It has the added bonus of being able to tutor another copy of itself for only one mana should it be specifically destroyed by your opponent(s).
Two in play = all your enchantments have shroud.

Given its abilities, Sterling Grove is very much a staple in an enchantress deck (and probably not much use in other decks). Holistic Wisdom and Replenish are two of many ways to abuse this card. Having two in play, your opponent would have much difficulty penetrating your Solitary Confinement.

Not sure why this is not rated 5/5? Very, very powerful, only reason you would not rate is so high is because you rate cards you don't play, or you played it in a deck with no enchantments. Enchantment deck, with this card and Sun Titan is insane. Pull every enchantment in your deck and play them starting with Privileged Position, then next turn summon Titan, return Sterling Grove to play, next turn get Mirari's Wake, attack return to play; next turn Enchantress's Presence, then Sigil of the Empty Throne (or do that one second turn Titan is out depending on how much you need manna vs free Angels), then True Conviction, then Angelic Destiny, and if anyone is still alive at this point Eldrazi Con***ion (not sure why the name gets cut off that one, but the enchantment that makes your create get +10/10, trample and annihi... (see all)

If you control them, then you can simply pay to sack them.
If you're facing two of them, you just need something that affects all enchantments or all permanents. As they are not specifically targeted, it still goes through. It's like throwing a grenade blindly - just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't going to blow up.

Both the tutor and protection halves of this are useful. The both for two mana is a bargain. This should at least be considered for any GW enchantment-oriented deck (and most enchantment-oriented decks, in my experience, are GW to begin with). This was a part of a surprisingly good and consistent deck at the time also involving Overgrown Estate, Necra Sanctuary, Nefarious Lich and a few other enchantments.

Excellent tutor and provides an extra layer of protection.

Good if you're running important enchantments, like one giving your platinum angel shroud or something

One of / Enchantress's key cards. Everything else important has been said.

Why are all the most broken cards in the game either enchantments or artifacts? Actually, I take that back; if this were legendary, it wouldn't be broken at all. That being said, the nastiest control decks I've ever seen abuse enchantments like crack; this is the syringe version!

So if you have two of these in play how do you get rid of them?
